The following is from a comment that I received on my blog.
Your right, i found this site looking for ideas to use against your scummy occupation.
I find Ninja Salvaging a nasty enterprise. If i were to liken it to a crime outside Eve, I would put it right up there with beating up a kid for his pocket money. It wouldn't surprise me if all of you did that anyway if I'm honest. Actually it wouldn't surprise me if the lot of you get off causing others pain.
Hows that for a comment.
Also thanks for giving me your Corp Name along with your so called chief of salvaging operations.
Watch your backs. Soon (but not too soon, wouldn't want to ruin the surprise when it happens) revenge will be taken and you so called ninja looters wont know where the next hit will come from.
see you soon:) Well, your frozen podded corpse at least:)
Hmm should i record your deaths and stick them up on YouTube???
As a result of our continuing operations, I receive a lot of feedback from EVE players. Some is positive, some is negative, but I love and appreciate all of it. So thank you to everyone.
The comment above was left by, what is no doubt, an angry carebear. Not realizing how the game works and that salvaging is an intended part of the game - and an actual profession no less - mission runners often get irate at the fact that we continue to salvage their wrecks with impunity.
So while I have no illusions that this blog post will undoubtedly fall upon deaf carebear ears, I’ll continue for the benefit and amusement of those who may not have seen this before. The following are quotes by developers, game masters, and forum moderators - all clearly stating CCP’s stance on ninja salvaging. Thanks, Marlenus.
by GM Ytterbium:
"Players are still completely free to salvage other pilot wrecks at will, no matter if they belong to the same corporation or not and doing so is not considered as an exploit."
by CCP Mitnal
"Salvaging is a mini-profession within EVE and does not constitute stealing."
by CCP Prism X
"Sadly, I've already explained the whole shebang a couple of times already and have heard no discussions as to changing the ownership of salvage. Things are working as they were designed and I do believe we're quite happy about what the introduction of salvaging has done for us."
by GM Faolchu
"This is an intended game mechanic and is in no way an exploit. People salvaging your missions npcs or the player you just blew up are doing nothing wrong. The players are salvaging what is effectively floating rubbish in space and Concord places no value on this wreckage.
"Eve is a harsh place you won't always have everything go your way, its a do or die world and people do what they can to get along. If salvaging some wreckage gets them a few more ISK someone will do it, it doesn't matter who just blew it up."
by CCP Prism X
"If you're surprised as to why the server does not consider it your stuff, it's because it's a mini profession designed for people who want to roam and look for salvage, not to further increase the revenue from mission grinding.. I doubt anyone with a perspective thinks we need to high-sec increase mission grinding any further.
"EVE is a really hostile game. We love how hostile it is.. we never meant for it to be a breeze."
So as you can see, it’s all perfectly legit even though players refuse to accept the fact that ninja salvaging is a legitimate play style. Although I must admit that there is a certain amount satisfaction to be gained by denying mission runners more internet space pixels in which they had no claim to in the first place. So yes dear reader, I do gain pleasure from your video game distress if you want to look at it that way.
The reality is that I receive threats of war and destruction on an almost daily basis, and these latest threats are just another example of merc-hiring carebears thinking they’ve stumbled upon the original idea of “revenge”. Their threats, on the rare occasion that they are actually followed through on, usually go on ignored by us and/or end up failing horribly.
Come to think of it, I may start sending merc corps an invoice for our services. We do send them some business after all...
As far as podding me, well… I wish you all the best. If a war target can pull it off, great. I will match the amount of my bounty at the time of podding.
Good luck, and thanks again for reading!
The Ninja's super-secret Chief of Salvage Operations, Paul Clavet has responded to this post on his blog. Check it out, it's pretty funny.
